Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) — is an official status that gives you the right to legally live in Belarus for 1 year with the possibility of annual renewal. This is not “permanent residence” in the everyday sense, but specifically a temporary migration status — the first and mandatory stage for those planning to stay in the country for a long time.

It is important to understand: TRP cannot be obtained “just because you want to.” It requires a legal basis — work, study, marriage to a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, property ownership, or other reasons provided by law. It is your specific basis that determines whether you can obtain a TRP and under what conditions.

TRP — is not the final point, but a launching pad:

✅ You live in Belarus legally, registering a temporary residence at your place of stay (where you are required to reside);
✅ You can work (sometimes a separate permit from the employer is required);
✅ You get access to medicine, can study, and open a business;

🚙You can travel abroad throughout the entire year (for any duration).
⚠️ But if you plan to obtain a permanent residence permit (indefinite resident status) after 5 years, you must not be absent from the country for more than 90 days per year throughout all 5 years.
