If the customs office has not recognized the imported item as a product for personal use, you have three options:
- Refusal to import — you have the right to voluntarily refuse the goods and take them back outside the EAEU. The costs for removal are borne by the owner. In this case, customs duties are not charged.
- Placement in temporary storage — the goods are placed in a temporary storage warehouse for a period of up to 2 months (with the possibility of an extension). During this time, you can:
– provide additional evidence of personal use and request a review of the decision;
– arrange for the goods to be sent back;
– decide to process the goods as a commercial shipment.
- Processing as a commercial shipment — in this case, the rules for legal entities apply: a goods declaration is submitted, and customs duties, VAT, and other payments are paid. Important: the total amount of payments often exceeds the cost of the item itself, making this option economically non-viable.
