Grounds for obtaining a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)

Temporary residence permits are issued to foreigners:
✔️if they have arrived in the Republic of Belarus to obtain or are receiving within the territory of the Republic of Belarus vocational, specialized secondary, higher, or postgraduate education, additional adult education when mastering the content of an educational program for advanced training of executives and specialists, an educational program for advanced training of workers (employees), an educational program for retraining of executives and specialists with higher education, an educational program for retraining of executives and specialists with specialized secondary education, an educational program for retraining of workers (employees), an educational program for professional training of workers (employees), an educational program for internships of executives and specialists, as well as when mastering in vocational, specialized secondary, and higher education institutions the content of an educational program to prepare individuals for admission to educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus or an educational program of training courses (lectures, thematic seminars, workshops, trainings, officer courses, and other types of training courses) aimed at studying the Russian and (or) Belarusian languages — for the duration of the education, but not more than one year;
✔️if they are spouses or close relatives of citizens of the Republic of Belarus or foreigners permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus — for the duration of the stay, but not more than one year;
✔️if they have arrived in the Republic of Belarus to engage in or are engaged in labor activities under employment contracts, religious, entrepreneurial, or other activities on the territory of the Republic of Belarus in the manner prescribed by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus — for the duration of the stay, but not more than one year, unless another period is established by legislative acts of the Republic of Belarus;
✔️if they are highly qualified workers — for the duration of the stay, but not more than two years, unless another period is established by legislative acts of the Republic of Belarus;
✔️in respect of whom guardianship (trusteeship) has been established by citizens of the Republic of Belarus, as well as by foreigners permanently residing in the Republic of Belarus — for the period of the established guardianship (trusteeship), but not more than one year;
✔️if they are Belarusians, as well as persons identifying themselves as Belarusians, and their descendants (direct-line blood relatives: children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren) born outside the modern territory of the Republic of Belarus — for the duration of the stay, but not more than one year;
✔️if they have grounds for acquiring citizenship of the Republic of Belarus by way of registration — for the duration of the stay, but not more than one year;
✔️if they previously held citizenship of the Republic of Belarus — for the duration of the stay, but not more than one year;
✔️if they own a residential property in the Republic of Belarus — for the duration of the stay, but not more than one year;
✔️if they have applied, in the manner prescribed by the legislative acts of the Republic of Belarus, for refugee status, subsidiary protection, or asylum in the Republic of Belarus — for the period of the application review;
✔️if they have been granted refugee status or asylum in the Republic of Belarus — for a period of not more than one year;
✔️if they have been granted subsidiary protection in the Republic of Belarus — for the period of the granted subsidiary protection, but not more than one year;
✔️if circumstances provided for by this Law and other legislative acts of the Republic of Belarus have arisen, under which they cannot be expelled from the Republic of Belarus — for the period during which expulsion is impossible, but not more than one year;
✔️if there is no state that has agreed to accept them — for a period of not more than one year;
✔️if they are receiving inpatient medical care in healthcare organizations of the Republic of Belarus — for the duration of the treatment, but not more than one year;
✔️if they accompany a person receiving inpatient medical care in a healthcare organization of the Republic of Belarus and (or) provide care for such a person, provided that such a person, for health reasons, requires such accompaniment (care) — for the duration of that person’s treatment, but not more than one year;
✔️on other grounds provided for by the legislation and international treaties of the Republic of Belarus.
✔️A temporary residence permit may be issued to family members of a foreigner who has received or is receiving a temporary residence permit, provided there is a legal source of income ensuring a subsistence minimum established in the Republic of Belarus for them and their family members, for the period of consideration of the application for a temporary residence permit, for the duration of the stay, but not exceeding the validity period of the temporary residence permit of the foreigner who has received or is receiving the temporary residence permit.
