Documents for obtaining a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)

  1. Application Form
    Filled out by hand according to the established form directly at the OGIM. It must be signed by the applicant in person.
  2. Foreign Citizen’s Passport
  • Must be valid for at least 6 months after the TRP expiration date (i.e., at least 1.5 years at the time of submission).
  • If the passport is not in Russian or Belarusian — a notarized translation made in Belarus is required.
  • A visa (if required for exiting Belarus) and a TRP stamp (for 1 year) will be placed in the passport. Ensure there are at least 2 blank pages.
  1. Medical Insurance for One Year
  • Issued by “Belgosstrakh” or “Beleximgarant.” For information regarding foreign insurance companies, check with your local OGIM.
  • An insurance policy is required for everyone except citizens of CIS countries (Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Moldova, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan).
  1. Document Confirming the Grounds for TRP (Choose One):
  • Certificate of ownership for residential premises (a house or apartment suitable for living);
  • Labor contract with an employer in the RB + a special permit to attract foreign labor (if you are not from the EAEU); or without a special permit for high-demand vacancies.
  • Certificate from a university/educational institution (for students);
  • Marriage certificate with a citizen of the RB;
  • Decision on recognition of a child (for family reunification);
  • Documents on investor status or HTP resident status (in special cases).
  1. Confirmation of Legal Stay in the RB at the Time of Submission
    This can be:

✔️A valid visa;
✔️A migration card with a border service stamp (for visa-free countries);
✔️Extended registration at the place of stay.

 ❗Important: You can only apply for a TRP while legally present in the country. Violation of the registration period is grounds for refusal.

Additional Documents (If Necessary)

  • Lease Agreement — if you are renting accommodation (must be registered at the Settlement and Information Center / Passport Office);
  • Confirmation of Financial Security (not always required, please check with the OGIM). It may not always be requested during the initial submission if the TRP is processed based on property ownership, marriage to a citizen of the RB, work, or education. However, it is necessary if family members are applying for reunification with you or if you have other grounds for TRP (e.g., an independent petition without ties to housing/work). Confirmed by: a bank statement, cash, a sponsorship letter, a labor contract, etc.
  1. State Fee Payment Receipt
    The state fee is 3 base values. Details regarding the payment requisites can be obtained at the Citizenship and Migration Department (OGIM).
    Exempted from payment:
  • Children under 14;
  • Persons seeking asylum;
  • Foreign investors (by decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
    The receipt can be paid at any bank or via the “Raschet” system (ERIP).

 Timelines and Important Nuances Processing time:

  • 15 working days — standard procedure;
  • 30 working days — when applying based on marriage or family reunification.
    TRP is issued for 1 year with the right to unlimited renewal if grounds exist.
    You must apply for renewal 30 days BEFORE the expiration date — otherwise, a fine or refusal is possible. Upon renewal, you will again need insurance for the year ahead, confirmation of income (if required), and temporary registration.

Requirements may differ slightly depending on the region (Minsk, Gomel, Brest, etc.). Always clarify the current list at your local OGIM.
