Fuel Limits: Lithuania restricts fuel imports from Russia and Belarus to 200 liters

Published:

The Lithuanian government has approved a resolution limiting the volume of fuel imported in the tanks of heavy goods vehicles arriving from Russia and Belarus. According to the new rules, the permissible fuel limit when crossing the border now stands at 200 liters. As justification for this measure, the republic’s Customs Department pointed to systematic cases of illegal siphoning and resale of surplus fuel on the domestic market. According to the agency’s calculations, with the current flow of freight transport at approximately 7.1 thousand vehicles per month, such actions lead to monthly state budget losses of 2.2 million euros due to the non-payment of corresponding taxes.
