Belarusian customs officers have dismantled another international drug trafficking route. A major shipment of 260 kg of hashish was discovered during the processing of a truck belonging to a Polish carrier at the Berestovitsa checkpoint.
Customs officials diverted the vehicle from the border to the Bruzgi-TLC departmental clearance point for a thorough inspection. There, hidden among the goods listed in the shipping documents, they uncovered 100 bricks containing a brown substance.

The conclusion of the State Committee for Forensic Examination confirmed that the substance was hashish.
According to the documents, the ‘consolidated cargo’ was imported from Poland to a Belarusian recipient. The latter was unaware that the criminals had hidden a large consignment of drugs in legally imported goods.
Investigative actions and joint operational search measures with Russian customs officers led to the arrest of the recipient of the hashish shipment, a 41-year-old Russian citizen.
Criminal cases have been opened. The members of the criminal group face imprisonment for up to 20 years.
